Douglas G. Abramson, 80, beloved husband of Nancy J. (Williamson) Abramson, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. Born in Worcester and raised in Holden, he was the son of the late John and Irene (Ferguson) Abramson. After graduating from Wachusett High School, Class of 1962. Doug enlisted in the military and proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He went on to further his education at Fitchburg State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Doug enjoyed a long career as an engineer with several local companies including Raytheon and later at MA/Com, from which he retired in 2011 as a Principal Engineer. He was an avid reader and could often be found reading a good mystery. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and tending to his yard. He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 40 years, Nancy J. Abramson of Holden; his two sons, Alex Abramson and Derek Abramson, both of Atkinson, NH; a step- daughter, Jennifer Thibault and her husband, James of Holden; a step-son, Thomas Lovejoy of Worcester; two sisters, Sue Cassidy of Holden and Karen Howarth and her husband, James of Holden; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. |
