Merrill J. Dussault, 90, of Worcester, formerly a longtime resident of Northborough, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025 at Rose Monahan Hospice in Worcester, after an illness. He leaves his beloved wife, Janice R. (Hammarstrom) Dussault; his devoted children, Laurie Magnuson and her husband William, of Brookfield, Karen McDonnell, of Acworth, GA, Amy Dussault, of South Portland, ME, and Scott Dussault and his wife Rebecca, of Wayland; cherished grandchildren, Michael McDonnell, of Kennesaw, GA, Jillian McDonnell, of Newnan, GA, Jessica Magnuson, of Palmer, Sara Magnuson, of West Warren, Ava Dussault, of Somerville, Ryan McDonnell, of Kennesaw, GA, and Dillon Dussault, of Sutton; and his brother, William Dussault, of Grafton. Merrill was predeceased by his siblings, Gerard Dussault and Judith Butterfield. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Denis Merrill Dussault and Catherine Mary (McSweeney). Merrill was a graduate of College of the Holy Cross, where he received a Bachelor’s degree. He enlisted in the U.S. Army just after the Korean Conflict, and served for two years before his honorable discharge. Upon returning home, Merrill went on to attain a Master’s degree in Education from Worcester State College. Merrill first taught at Grafton High School for about ten years, before moving on to Framingham North High School, where he retired in 1996 after 27 years of dedication. He also taught evening courses at Fisher Junior College. Merrill was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Augustine Council #5724 in Northborough, where he served as Grand Knight and Financial Secretary. Merrill also served as Faithful Navigator of the 4th degree Edward McSweeney Assembly 400, District Deputy and a number of State positions as well. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org/donate). Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Dussault family from 4 – 7 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St, Worcester, followed by burial with military honors at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. |
