Claire G. (Foisy) Huckins, 98, of Marshall Street, died Thursday, December 19, 2024, in her home. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Gordon E. Huckins of Oxford who died in 2016. She is survived by three children, Pamela G. Ekman and her husband Carl of Charlton, Bonnie C. Beliveau and her husband Paul of Oxford, and James E. Huckins Sr. and his wife Francine of West Tisbury, Martha’s Vineyard; five grandchildren, Erik Ekman and his wife Jenifer, Jennifer Conway, Elizabeth Malone and her husband Scott, Rhiana Sherwood, and James Huckins Jr. and his wife Erin; nine great-grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Jacob, Victoria, Claire, Gavin, Joseph, Lily, and Charlie; and four great-great grandchildren, Carter, Evelynn, Amelia, and Henry; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Gladys Dandro who died in 2003. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late George and Celina (Daigneault) Foisy, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1950. She graduated from St. Peter’s High School in Worcester in 1945. Mrs. Huckins was a public relations secretary in the Career Placement Department at Nichols College in Dudley for 29 years, retiring in 1997. Previously, she worked as a secretary at Holy Cross College. While raising her children, she worked at home as a dressmaker and seamstress, and also did alterations. She enjoyed square dancing, crocheting, and birdwatching. She made beautiful afghans for her family. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St, Oxford. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling hours are Monday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. |
