Richard V. Harvey, 85, of Worcester died on Monday, November 4th at home surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 40 years, Joyce (Davis) Harvey; two sons, Lamarr A. Harvey of Worcester and Richard K. Harvey of Fall River; three grandchildren, Alexia Harvey, Lamarr Harvey, Jr., and Devon Harvey; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Alivia; three brothers, Robert Harvey, Ronald Harvey, and Clyde “Pinky” Harvey all of New York; two sisters, Kimberly Harvey of New York and Carolyn Simmons of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Clifford “Sonny” Harvey, Wayne Harvey, and Billy Harvey; and a sister, Joan Baxter. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Clifford and Ruth (Hunter) Harvey. Richard was a proud retired Army veteran, serving his country with distinction for 26 years before embarking on a second career with the United States Postal Service. He dedicated 36 years to USPS, where he was known for his reliability, hard work, and commitment to his community. A man of action, Richard found joy in staying active, whether it was through his love of travel, home improvement projects, or simply staying fit. He relished the opportunity to explore new places, both near and far, and cherished the moments spent learning and growing along the way. Above all, Richard loved spending time with his family. He was a proud father and grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his legacy will live on through the countless memories he created with his loved ones. He was the heart and soul of every family gathering, always quick with a smile, a joke, or a word of encouragement. His kindness, generosity, and wisdom will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
