Donald A. “Porky” Gervais, 90, of Worcester passed away Wednesday March 6, 2024, at the Christopher House. He was preceded by his wife of 60 years, Jeanne B. “Twinnie” (Dumas) Gervais. He leaves his loving children and their families, Paul & LeeAnn Gervais and their children Gabrielle and Sydney Gervais of West Boylston; Stephen & Paula Gervais and their children John Gervais of Spencer and Matthew Gervais and his wife Katie of Brookline; Nancy & Paul Boisvert of Boylston and their children, Daniel Boisvert of Worcester, Brittney Thompson and her husband Andrew and their children Scarlett and Blake of Billerica and Emily Camara and her husband Danny and their daughter Callie of Hudson and Carolyn & Raymond Parker and their daughter Ashley of Worcester. He also leaves his two brothers, Raoul (Sonny) of West Boylston, Raymond and his wife Kathy Gervais of Worcester and a sister, Arlene Marengo and her husband Walter of Boylston. He leaves his brother-in-law Robert Vayo and was preceded by his sister, Lorraine Vayo of Holden. He also leaves many nieces and nephews who loved their uncle Porky. He was born in Worcester on July 4, 1933 son of the late Raoul and Doris (Boisvert) Gervais and has lived in Worcester all his life. Donald graduated from Commerce High School. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving in England, France and Germany. Upon discharge he continued his service in the 212th Massachusetts Air National Guard serving with his sons. Mr. Gervais worked for Massachusetts Electric Co., for 38 years retiring in 1993. Donald was a faithful blood donor to the American Red Cross having donated over 21 gallons of blood. He was a member of St. Joseph and St. Stephen Parishes. Donald was a longtime member and past Commander of Grafton Hill Post 323 American Legion and was an avid supporter of their American Legion baseball team. Being born on the 4th of July we always had big cookouts and celebrated my dad, and the country he was so proud of, with all our family and friends. He enjoyed camping with his family and our cousins the Vayo’s for many years and his daughter Nancy continues this tradition with her family. Always with a camera in his hand we have so many family memories captured in photos. He loved spending time with family and friends. He will be missed by all. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from DIRSA – MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton St. Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday March 11, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Inc. 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605. |
