Charles W. “Chuck” Crone, 88, died peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Sterling Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Minden, WV the son of the late William and Pearl (Poston) Crone and attended school in Oakhill, WV until the 11th grade before moving to Monon, IN and graduating from Monon High School in 1954. Chuck proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1968 and went on to work for the FAA for 20 years. He later worked for Lincoln Labs, NASA, MIT Computer Service Corporation and was an Air Traffic Controller at Logan Airport. Chuck was a member of the First Congregational Church of West Boylston where he leaves many dear friends. He was also a proud member of the American Legion Post 189 in Sterling and the Lions Club of Princeton. Chuck leaves a legacy of devotion to his country, community and family. Chuck will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife, June (Christenson) Caldbeck-Crone of Sterling; his sons, Charles Crone, Jr. and his wife, Kitty of Framingham, Lawrence Crone of Ashland; his daughter, Lynda Prout and her husband, Robert of Grafton; his step-son, Bradley Caldbeck of Townsend; his step-daughter, Kim Murphy and her husband, Ed of Rutland; his brothers, Richard, James and Dean Crone; his sister, Mary Sharp of IN; his grandchildren, Stephen, Deana and Matthew Crone; his step-grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Olivia Murphy and Savannah Caldbeck; as well as several nieces and nephews. Chuck was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and George Crone; and his sister, Norma Corpus. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service honoring and celebrating Chuck’s life at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the First Congregational Church of West Boylston, 26 Central Street, West Boylston. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sterling Senior Center Council on Aging, PO Box 243, Sterling, MA 01564. Arrangements are under the care of Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling. |
