Jeanette (Conner) Ahearn, 95, of Shrewsbury, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away in the comfort of her home on March 6, 2024. Her husband of 66 years, William H. Ahearn, passed away on March 27, 2013. Jeanette was born in Leicester, Massachusetts, on February 21, 1929, to the late Wesley and Eleanor Conner. Jeanette graduated from the Worcester Girls Trade School and attended Becker Jr. College in 1945. She resided in West Boylston for 47 years before moving to Shrewsbury. In her younger years, she was a dedicated member of The Barre Riding & Driving Club and kept up with the family tradition of deer hunting. She took pride in her pony farm in Grafton. She loved animals, especially dogs and ponies. She exuded a passion for horseback riding and was a true horse enthusiast throughout her years. Jeanette’s love for her family knew no bounds, as she adored being surrounded by her grandchildren and took great pleasure in traveling, visiting casinos, vacationing at the Cape, and of course, riding horses. A woman of many talents, Jeanette was known for baking the most delicious pies, especially her famous apple pies that delighted all who tasted them. Her warm personality and loving nature touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be dearly missed by her sons Richard Ahearn and his wife Mary of West Brookfield, Craig Ahearn and his wife Michelle of Florida, Gary Ahearn and his wife Marcia of Oxford; a daughter, Kimberly Curtis and her husband Michael of Oxford; grandchildren Brenda, William, Jennifer, Billy, Craig Jr., Jason, Jennifer, Becky, Amanda, Jeffrey, Alicia, Chris & Olivia, 31 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. Jeanette also leaves a daughter-in-law, Patricia Ahearn, and many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. She is predeceased by her son, William “Buster” Ahearn, Jr.; a daughter, Denise Nordstrom; two brothers, Dana Conner and Calvin Swallow; two grandsons, Pete and Dana Ahearn; and a great-granddaughter, Violet. Services will be held at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel in Worcester to honor and celebrate Jeanette’s life. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 16th, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, followed by a funeral service. The burial will take place at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jeanette’s memory be sent to the Worcester Animal Rescue League. |
