Dorothy “Dory” Wyne, of Ayden, North Carolina, passed peacefully away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the age of 75 with her two children by her side. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts on March 6, 1948, she was the daughter of Walter J. Pogorek and Dorothy M. Pogorek. Dory worked for over 12 years at Jamesbury Corporation, 7 years at Sams Club as a baker, and was a bartender for 10 years. Dory was a lifelong resident of Worcester, Massachusetts until two years ago when she moved to North Carolina. She graduated from Commerce High, and later earned a certificate as a hair dresser. She was a lifelong New England sports fan, especially the Red Sox which she often referred to as the “Red Slobs” until 2004 when they finally “Reversed the Curse” and won the World Series. She enjoyed watching the Patriots with her sister Donna. Dory was an avid coffee drinker which her oldest grandon’s labeled her “ Grandma Coffee”. She adored watching her grandchildren grow and loved speaking with them daily. Dory had a never-ending love for her daughter and son and worked hard throughout her life to provide for them and support them. Dory enjoyed gardening and was always happy to share what she cultivated with others. She had a generous heart and was always willing to help out a friend, a neighbor, or her family. She will be greatly missed by all who’s lives she touched and will always have a special place in their hearts. Dory is survived by her daughter Tawnya Drumm, son Mike Wyne, and daughter-in-law Angela Wyne; four grandchildren: Trent Drumm (wife Logan), Brett Drumm, Stefan Wyne, and Siena Wyne; and her great grandson William “Liam” Drumm. Dory is also survived by her siblings and their spouses: Pat (sister) and Ed Dziewietin, Donna Layton (sister), Jim (brother) and Joanne Pogorek, Mae Pogorek (sister-in-law), and an uncountable number of nieces, nephews, and excellent friends that she adored with all her heart. She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Dorothy Pogorek, brother Walter (Bud) Pogorek Jr, and brother-in-law Steve Layton. |
