Sandra L. (Fantasia) Babin (87) 1936-2023 Sandra was loved and cherished by her Family, friends and all the school children and their families that she drove to and from school in Shrewsbury for many years. Sandra L. (Fantasia) Babin, (87) of Worcester, MA, succumbed to her heroic fight against pancreatic cancer on Saturday 10/14/2023 at home. Her loving husband of 67 years and family were by her side. Sandra was born October 7, 1936 in Worcester, MA to Louis A. Fantasia and Ida (Pulcinelli) Fantasia, both deceased. Sandra was preceded in death by her siblings, Louis M. Fantasia, Anna (“Dolly”) Esposito, and David Fantasia. Sandra is survived by her husband, Paul T. Babin Sr. (88). They were married on June 16, 1956 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Worcester, MA. They have three children: Paul T Babin Jr. and his wife, Kimberly (Allen) Babin, David E. Babin and his wife, Adrianna (Teixeira) Babin, and Theresa R. Babin. Sandra is also survived by her 10 grandchildren: David A. Babin and his wife, Elizabeth (Hernandez) Babin, Brandy L. (Babin) Berube and her husband, Jacob A. Berube, Samantha, Nicholas, Gregory, Thamires, Victor, Meagan, Samantha, and Victoria. Sandra will also be missed by her four great grandsons, Corey Berube, David A. Babin Jr., Brayden Berube and Paul Ray Babin. Sandra was a lifelong Worcester resident and graduated from Commerce High School in 1952. She then graduated from Salter Secretarial School (now Salter College) in Worcester, MA. Salter Secretarial School is also the place where Sandra met her long time friend of 70 years Margaret “Peggy” Hawes of Shrewsbury, MA. After college, Sandra worked at the blood bank at St. Vincent Hospital. Her passion, though, was children. Sandra became a crossing guard for Worcester Public School for over 25 years, and became a school bus driver for Shrewsbury Public Schools until she retired at 85 years old. Sandra especially enjoyed spending time with her family and sports. Having coached her daughter Theresa in softball for six years, Sandra then became president of Tom Ash Girl’s Little League in the 1970’s. She was also an avid fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. Playing the organ, girls night (girl’s club), and having a fun time at the Casino. Sandra was a devout catholic attending church weekly and praying the Rosary. Sandra will be greatly missed by all that knew her. The funeral will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 from DIRSA – MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
