Nancy L. (Cofske) Scappaticci, 88, died peacefully at home with her family by her side on Friday, September 15, 2023. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Norman and Sally M. (Pajala) Cofske and grew up in Millbury. Nancy graduated from Millbury High School and worked for State Mutual Life Insurance Co. for several years. She married her one true love, Benjamin A. Scappaticci and the couple settled in Holden where they raised their family. Nancy also worked as a Teller for WCIS Bank for 17 years until her retirement in 1993. She was a devout member of St. George Church in Worcester where she leaves many dear friends. Nancy enjoyed line dancing and participating in exercise classes at the Holden Senior Center. For over 60 years she traveled to many destinations together with the same group of ten close High School girlfriends. Above all she cherished spending time with her family. Nancy is survived by her husband of 67 years, Benjamin A. Scappaticci of Holden; her sons, Brian A. Scappaticci and his wife, Debra of CA and Anthony J. Scappaticci and his girlfriend, MaryAnn Puglisi of Methuen; her daughter, Sally A. Smalanskas and her husband, John of Holden; her brothers, David W. Cofske of Millbury and Ralph W. Cofske of CT; her grandchildren, Erica, Amanda, Anthony, Matthew, Brittany, Patrick and Michael; her great grandchildren, William, Levi and Augustine; as well as several nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her brothers, Laurie N. Cofske and Arthur Cofske; and her sister, Beverly Handfield. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at St. George Church, 40 Brattle St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. |
