Kenneth S. Allen, 89, of No.Brookfield and formerly of Spencer, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 27 in St. Mary’s Health Care Center in Worcester. He was the husband of Ellinor E. (Klose) Allen who died in 2020. He leaves his son; James K. Allen and his wife Shelly A. (Desmarais) Allen of No. Brookfield with whom he lived and his daughter; Gayle M. (Allen) Hurlbutt and her husband Ted of Stanley, NY. He also leaves 8 grandchildren; Brian J. Allen and his wife Nicole, Joshua D. Allen, Kaleigh A. (Allen) Lichuk and her husband Adam, Hannah E. (Allen) Rodriguez and her husband Jordan, Mackenzie I. Allen, Ashley N. Hurlbutt, Allison A. (Hurlbutt) North and her husband Tye, and Angela F. Hurlbutt. Also, 3 great granddaughters; Zoey and Cianna Rodriguez and Cheyenne Lichuk. He was born in Spencer, the son of Foster S. and Rita A. (Menard) Allen. He was predeceased by his sister, Shirley C. (Allen) Lancaster. Ken served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, then later graduated from Bellevue School of Nursing in New York City. He was a registered nurse at Worcester State Hospital for 40 years prior to his retirement in 1997. He was a certified CPR instructor and former director for the Spencer Rescue Squad. He also served on the Advisory Committee of the Spencer District Nurse Association. He was a member of the Holden Chapel. He loved going for a walk, playing the trumpet, piano, and spending time with his family. He could fix just about anything, and loved helping and advising others. At the family’s request, no services are planned at this time. Burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton will be held at the convenience of the family. The J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terrace, Spencer is assisting the family with arrangements. |
