Francis R. Zajac, 82, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester with his family by his side. He is survived by four children, Lisa M. Westerman and her husband Ron Allard of Worcester, Gina M. Erickson of Dudley, Kimberly A. Festa and her husband Richard of Auburn, and Michael F. Zajac of Shrewsbury; his sister, Barbara J. Marshall and her husband Al of Sterling; six grandchildren, Shayla M. (Westerman) Curtis, Alyssa M. (Westerman) Diggins, Heather N. (Erickson) Yacino, Bryan D. Erickson, Sean C. Festa, and Matthew A. Festa; three great-grandchildren, Lucca, Sophia, and Knox Yacino; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister, Carol W. Noone. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Francis J. and Wanda K. (Laskowski) Zajac, and lived most of his life in Worcester and Carver. He graduated from Worcester Industrial Technical School in 1958 and attended Johnson and Wales University. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, and later served in the Air National Guard. Mr. Zajac was the head computer technician for Worcester Public Schools for 15 years, retiring in 1999. Previously, he was a teletype technician for Western Union in Mansfield for over 15 years, and was a real estate agent. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida and attending his local senior centers. He enjoyed yard sales, walking, biking, and fishing. He had a love for technology could often be found working with electronics and tinkering. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oxford. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
