Mary Ann Lebejko-Roughan, 58, loving wife of Thomas J. Roughan of 147 Holden St., passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. She was born on April 10, 1963 in Norwich, CT, daughter of the late Michael R. Lebejko, Sr. & Susan (Kukucka) Lebejko. Tom and Mary were united in marriage at Sacred Heart Church in Norwichtown on August 5, 2000. Besides her husband she is survived by a brother Thomas S. Lebejko of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Kathleen Furtak of Wallingford, CT and Anne Lesko of Denver, CO; four nephews and nieces, Michael and Daniel Furtak, Amanda Coletta and Morgan Lebejko; her mother-in-law, Elizabeth McDonough; extended family and her beloved cat Jalapeno. She was predeceased by her brother Michael R. Lebejko, Jr. and her first husband Joseph McDonough. Mary attended High School at Norwich Free Academy where she excelled at track, especially the hurdles and upon her graduation she studied at the University of Rhode Island where she received a B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics. Mary went on to use her Degree as a Nutritionist at Harrington Hospital in Webster, MA and as a Director of Food Services at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Tech in Upton, MA, before ending her professional career and enjoying life’s simple pleasures. Some of which included her love to cook, nurturing her bountiful garden, imitating a beach pancake, or caring for her beloved animals. Her love of animals was her true legacy. Growing up across the street from Lebejko Dairy Farm instilled in her a desire to become a veterinarian. Unfortunately, this career choice did not materialize but her love of animals never wavered. Over the years she rescued many dogs and cats from local animal shelters and took them into her home.
