Mary(Adams) Burrell, 93 of Worcester, Massachusetts died of natural causes on August 16, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 3, 1927 in Bourbon, Mississippi to the late Hosier Adams and Gertrude (Mathis) Dickerson. She was later raised and cared for by her stepmother Addie Lee (McKinney) Adams. Mary had many different jobs in the city of Worcester. Her most recent employment was as a Home Daycare Provider. She was also a Foster Parent to several families. Mary was a devoted Christian woman. She was a member of Second Baptist Church for 50 years; she was a mother of the church, served on the Missionary Board, a Deaconess, and served on the Pastor’s Aid Committee. In 2013 she became a church mother of the New Praise Cathedral Worship Center. She enjoyed serving God, watching the Christian channels, cooking, fishing, and spending time with her family. She was also an avid Red Sox fan. In celebrating her life, Mary leaves behind 10 children, L.V. (Sonja), Ezell (Sherri Hampton), Sammie, Carla, Henrean (Bernard Mungai), Louise, Doris (Steven Hyman), Rebecca, Rose Gaines (Dirus) and Ethel Mayo (Stephen); 38 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, 23 great great grandchildren. Her siblings, Hosea, Roosevelt (Gloria), Woodrow (Lorraine) Adams, Eula Mae Carter, Ola Mae Evans, her beloved nieces, Debbie Stevenson and Beatrice Smith, a host of and nieces, nephews, church/distant family members, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Henry Lee Burrell, daughters Maryann (Burrell)Greer, Deloris (Burrell) Wheeler, Gloria Dean (Burrell) King, a son Luther Lee Burrell, stepson Henry Appleberry , grandson Eddie James Wheeler, Great grandson Jayden Hargrove, brothers James and Felix Adams Sr., sisters Janice Fernandes, and Ora Lee (Williams) Stevenson who was her best fishing buddy, Her twin sister Martha Adams who died at an early age. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on Friday, August 21st from 9:00am until 10:30am at the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A funeral service will begin at 10:30am in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. |
