Frederick R. Morin, 83, of Chestnut Street, died Monday, March 2, at St. Vincent Hospital. His wife Jeannine (Vallee) Morin died April 28, 2018. He leaves a son Eric Morin of Southbridge, a daughter Lisa Benson and her husband Steve of Southbridge 4 grandchildren Cristina Goizueta Rosato, Mathieu Morin, Zachary Morin, and newly adopted grandson Jax Mitchell Benson and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Rex Linde, and three brothers Ralph LaFlamme, Roger LaFlamme, George LaFlamme. He was born in Southbridge the son of the late Theophile and Elaine (Duquette) Morin and lived in the area all his life. He graduated from Cole Trade High School in 1957. He ran TP Morin Painting Company for many years, a company that his dad started in 1947. Fred was Grand Knight and a member of the DeTriana Council #199, Knights of Columbus and was a member of the southbridge Historical Committee and the southbridge School Board. He was a member of the Quinebaug Lodge of Masons AF & AM, and was a past Master of the lodge. He was appointed as Right Worshipful District Deputy Grand Master of the 24th district. He was well respected throughout Massachusetts and made many friends as he traveled throughout the state visiting Masonic lodges. He enjoyed teaching and playing baseball. In 1982 Marianhill Central Catholic High School recognized him with a testimonial Dinner as Athletic Director where he left an impact on many students throughout the years. His passion was baseball and at one time he played semi-professional baseball. He went on to be a scout for the Red Sox organization. He also taught art and has many ink, pencil, chalk and oil paintings. Most of all Fred enjoyed his family and always talked about going home from work where his wife Jeannine had a homecooked meal. He will be missed by all who knew him. His funeral will Mass will be held at 11AM, Friday, March 6 in Notre Dame Church of the St. John Paul II Parishes, 446 Main St. Southbridge. Entombment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park. Calling hours are from 9AM to 10:30 AM prior to the Mass, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge.
