MARY ANGELIS (KOTSEAS)

     Mary (Kotseas) Angelis of Sebring, FL and Worcester, MA passed away on January 5, 2019. Mary’s beloved husband of 62 years, George passed in 2011. She is survived by her devoted son Paul, his wife, Karen, and her grandson, Matthew of Charlton, granddaughters, Jennifer Mason-Blum and Maria (Mason) Kaperonis and three great-grandchildren; her sisters, Venus and Georgia; brother-in-law Stephen Maintainis; sister-in-law Esther Martin and her husband, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry M. and Evangeline (Tsetsis) Kotseas, brothers Charles and Paul; sisters, Helen, Eugenia “Ginny”, and Clair. Mary had seven siblings with whom she remained very close seeing or speaking to them often.

She was born in Worcester in 1922, raised in Shrewsbury graduating from Major Howard W. Beal High School class of 1941, received her Registered Nursing Degree from Worcester Memorial Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1944. Mary served during WWII as a 2nd Lieutenant at the U.S. Army 4th General Hospital in Manila, Philippines. Mary was a Memorial Hospital nurse, private duty and later as an office nurse for Dr. Moore and Dr. Germanos. Mary’s career changed course in 1972 when she received her degree as a Registered Electrologist and later started the Angelis School of Electrology.

Mary enjoyed family gatherings baking her flaky crust pies, cookies, brownies and pizza. She was very skilled at knitting and tried her hand at oil painting. Mary walked daily in her Worcester neighborhood which contributed to her good health and mental strength. Mary will be remembered by all for her lovely smile, love and devotion to her family.

Family and Mary’s friends are invited to visiting hours at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester on Friday, January 11th from 5-7 p.m. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 12th with a service 11 a.m. at Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton at the convenience of her family.
