Robert J. “Bob” Inangelo, 77, of Worcester, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 7, 2018. He was born on July 24, 1940 in Worcester, MA to the late Joseph and Julia (Francesco) Inangelo. Bob attended the former Commerce High School in Worcester where he excelled in several sports, mainly basketball. After graduation, he proudly served his country in both the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy. After leaving the military, he worked in the life insurance business for several years before entering the food and hospitality industry. Bob worked at the Four Seasons Restaurant and the former Mount Pleasant Country Club. He then went on to become the manager of the former ITAM Club. He then spent many years as Food and Beverage Director at both Sterling Country Club and Cyprian Keyes Golf Club. Bob was a basketball official and a member of Board 26 IAABO. He served as Board President and was the recipient of the Jim Dorsey Award for Service to Board 26. He also received the Sons of Italy award for his achievements in basketball as both a player and an official. He was also a former member of New England Club Manager’s Association and the Bishop O’Reilly General Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed family vacations skiing and visiting Walt Disney World, spending the summers with Margaret and his family in Wells, ME and watching his beloved grandsons play sports. Bob loved to golf and ski and was an avid Boston sports fan. He took pleasure in cooking for his family whatever the occasion. Bob is survived by his beautiful and wonderful wife of 55 years, Margaret (Martocci) Inangelo; his daughters, Lauren Heroux and her husband Dr. Paul Heroux of Holden, MA, Andrea Orzechowski and her husband Richard of Hooksett, NH, Carla Haynes and her husband Craig of Boylston MA; grandsons Benjamin Orzechowski, Elliott Heroux, Nathan Heroux, Ethan Haynes, Wesley Haynes and Oliver Haynes; brothers, Frank Inangelo and his companion Marilyn Queen of Hudson MA, John Inangelo of Rutland MA, Sister Alberta “Birdie” Inangelo of Leicester, MA; In-laws Joseph and Mary Jane Martocci of Falmouth, MA, Thomas and Edie Martocci of Charlton, MA and Edward Cox of Oxford, MA. Bob is predeceased by his father and mother- in-law, Joseph and Agnes Martocci and sisters- in-law, Judith (Martocci) Cox and Patricia (Viens) Inangelo. Bob also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends. Bob and his family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the nurses and staff of JHC Hospice for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to JHC Hospice, Worcester, MA. Services for Bob will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 12th from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.
