Marion V. (Hodgkins) Kozminski, 93, of Highland Park Road passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 17, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of Dana and Jessiline (Sandquist) Hodgkins. Her husband of 64 years, Joseph W. Kozminski, passed away in 2011. In her younger years, Marion was a member of the American Legion Post 5 Girls Drum Corps. She met Joe while roller skating, one of her favorite youth pass times. She graduated from David Hale Fanning Trade School from the printing program. Later she was a chaperone for the Rutland Fife & Drum Corps. She was an avid knitter and her family always had hand-made sweaters, hats, mittens and scarves. During her retirement, Marion enjoyed traveling with her husband to Mesa, AZ where they spent many winters, enjoying family, friends, and the climate. She enjoyed the simple things in life, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, a game of cards, or a trip to the casino. She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her three children, Karen D. Bickford and Steven J. Kozminski of Rutland, and Kenneth G. Kozminski of Hubbardston; three grandchildren, Amanda Shaulis (Jeff), Joseph Kozminski (Christina) and Timothy Drakehart (Kayla); four great-grandchildren, Anthony, Lily, and Jeffrey Shaulis and Kenny Kozminski. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Lillian J. Gibson and Evelyn Sullivan, and her daughter in law, Pam Kozminski. The family would like to thank the nurses and home health aides from Jewish Health Care who helped us care for her during her final year, especially Carol, Leah, Amanda, Michelle, and Kristen. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. The funeral will be held at 1pm on Thursday, March 22 at the First Congregational Church, 264 Main Street, Rutland. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue Paxton. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Or in Marion’s own words “Forget the flowers and donations. Honor my memory by doing something nice for someone in need of a little extra love and attention now. Peace be with you.” |
