Violet M. (Edwards) Skonieczny, 93, died Thursday, December 7, 2017 at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Worcester, MA, following an illness.
Her husband of 50 years was the late Edmund T. Skonieczny, who died October 23, 2014. She is survived by her children, Ronald A. Brown of Charlton; Deacon Tom Skonieczny and his wife, Paula, of Southbridge; Steven Skonieczny of Tiltonville, OH; Diane Cost of Tiltonville, OH; and Sheryl Blancato and her husband, Joseph, of East Brookfield; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; her brother, F. “Jerry” Edwards of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by 8 siblings, Royal Edwards, Pearl Blodgett, Earl Edwards, Irene Breveleri, Max Edwards, Conrad Edwards, Elmer Edwards, and Ivan Edwards.
Born in Barre, VT, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Byron and Ethel Viola (Douglas) Edwards. She previously worked at the former American Optical Company in Southbridge, as well as working with her husband at their business, the former Ed’s Typewriter in Southbridge. She enjoyed being a homemaker, and sewing. She was a life member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post 6055 of Southbridge, now Post 3439 of North Brookfield. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 109 in Fiskdale, and served as Vice President of Royal Travelers for 10 years.
A calling hour will be Monday, December 11, 2017, from 8:30-9:30AM at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA, with the funeral Mass to follow at 10AM at Notre Dame Church, 446 Main Street, Southbridge. Burial will immediately follow at the Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton.
