Romeo J. Richard, 90, of Spencer died on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at The Meadows of Leicester. He leaves his wife of 70 years, Blanche A. (Robidou) Richard of Spencer; a son, Robert Richard of West Brookfield; a daughter, Annette Welch and her husband William of Spencer; two brothers, Gerald Richard and his wife Ann Marie of Simano, FL and Ronald Richard and his wife Lynn of Worcester; a sister, Dora Beaudin of Worcester; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was born and grew up in Worcester, son of the late Arthur and Ozlie (Maillet) Richard and later lived in West Brookfield before moving to Spencer in 1984. Mr. Richard was a compositor for 23 years, working for Davis Press, Stobbs Press and Heffernan Press of Worcester before retiring in 1990. Romeo was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Spencer for over 50 years. He was a W.W. II United States Army Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 138 of Spencer, and a lifetime member of the North Brookfield Sportsman Club in North Brookfield. Romeo was also active with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 74 in Worcester for over 30 years. A Funeral Service for Romeo will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield. A calling hour will be held prior to the Service from 9 to 10 AM in the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mary Queen of the Rosary Parish Food Pantry, 60 Maple St., Spencer, MA 01562. |
