Audrey R. (Bailey) Pooles, died unexpectedly of a pulmonary embolism, at Pleasant View Rehabilitation Center on Sunday, September 10. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Pooles, who died in 1991. Audrey was born in Lowell, MA on May 19, 1940, to the late Alice (Dean) and Rymer Bailey. She was raised in Dracut, attended Christ Church United, and was a graduate of Dracut High School, Class of 1958. Audrey received her Bachelor degree in Business from Assumption College, Worcester, MA. She served in the United States Navy, stationed in Norfolk, VA, and received an Honorable Discharge. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Agent in 1995, where she and received the Albert Gallatin Award to attest to the many years of faithful and honorable service to the Treasury Department. Once retired, she moved to Conway, NH and enjoyed skiing, golfing, and hiking in the New Hampshire White Mountains. She has resided at Granite Ledges in Concord, NH for the past 10 years where she loved to play Bingo, Pokeno, and going out with the group on special trips, especially for lobster rolls. Audrey attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Concord and made many wonderful friends. She was also active in the women’s group at the church. Audrey is predeceased by her brothers, Rymer Bailey and David Bailey. She is survived by her sister, Sandra Berube, and her husband Kenneth ‘Sandy’, of Dracut, and with many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a great-great niece and nephew. She is remembered by very dear friends: Judy, Ronna, Nell, Jerry and Hank. A special thanks to Wayne and the staff at the Granite Ledges for their hard work and the friendship shown to Audrey during her stay. ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held on FRIDAY, September 15 at Christ Church United, 10 Arlington Street, Dracut, MA. Calling hours from 10 – 11 a.m. with her Funeral service 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Carra McFadden will officiate. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes a donation in honor of Audrey to Alzheimer’s Association National Office, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601. |
