Attorney Stephen Andrew McNerney died at his home in Auburn, MA on Thursday August 10th, 2017 at the age of 70. Stephen is survived by his wife, Birgit McNerney, his children Karin Sjogren and her fiancé Charles Rosenberg of Auburn, MA and Jennifer Lynch of Auburn, MA, his seven beloved grandchildren; William , Meghan , and Matthew Sjogren, Meredith and Charlotte Lynch all of Auburn, MA and Sara and Caroline Rosenberg, his brother Robert F. McNerney Jr. and his wife Paula McNerney of Stafford Springs, CT his sisters Margaret “Midge” Yacavace and her husband David Yacavace of Southbridge, MA, and Jean McNerney of Worcester, MA, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Katherine McNerney Nolan of Ware, MA and an infant son Christopher Andrew McNerney and his beloved dog Scamp. Stephen was born on December 27th, 1946 in Worcester, MA son of Robert and Mary McNerney. He graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, and was a graduate of The College of the Holy Cross, and Suffolk Law School. Stephen’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his grandchildren. He had great memories of the many vacations he took with them venturing out on countless “adventures.” Stephen practiced law in Worcester for over 45 years, and was a member of the Worcester Bar Association and American Bar Association. Stephen was a U.S. Army veteran serving as a Military Policeman during the Vietnam War. He coached Youth Soccer in Auburn and was a member of the Town of Auburn By-law Committee. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the McNerney family on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 4-7 pm in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St, Auburn. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Monday, August 21, 2017 in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 23 Fales Street, Worcester, MA 01606. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers kindly consider a donation to The Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St, Worcester, MA 01606. |
