Jean Arthur Guenette, 86, of Auburn and a longtime Worcester resident passed away on Wednesday, July 26th in the Saint Francis Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after an illness. Jean was married for 53 years to the late Kathleen T. (LaMonda) Guenette who died in 2007. He is survived by his 5 children, Arthur Guenette and his wife, Terry of Millbury, Darlene Barrett and her wife, Pamela of Uxbridge, John Guenette and his wife, Sally of Northbridge, Michael Guenette and his longtime companion, Carey Andrus of Palm Bay, FL and Bill Guenette and his girlfriend, Jennifer Kimbar-Leduc of Worcester; a brother, Albert Guenette of Spencer; a sister, Angelina Pelkey of Millbury; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Mr. Guenette was born in Worcester, son of the late Adolphe and Mary (Blair) Guenette and is also predeceased by 2 brothers, Phillip and Alfred Guenette and a sister, Lillian LaMonda. Jean is a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. He worked for over 20 years at the former Standard Foundry in Worcester as a forklift operator. Mr. Guenette was an all-around handyman who was able to fix pretty much anything that was needed, he enjoyed taking day trips to the casinos and was an avid collector of clocks and elephant collectibles. Jean volunteered for many years at the former Maranville Little League where he served in many capacities, including league president. He was a member of the English Social Club and Saint Joseph’s Church in Auburn. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and volunteers of Saint Francis Home and Notre Dame Hospice for the exceptional care, love and support that was shown to Jean and his family. The funeral will be held on Monday, July 31 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester with a Mass at 11:30 AM in St. Joseph’s Church 189 Oxford St. Auburn. Burial with military honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 30 from 1 to 4 in the funeral home.
