K. Helen (Mamuska) Fleming, 95, formerly of Worcester, died Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the Overlook Masonic Health Center in Charlton. Her husband, Paul E. Fleming, died in 1988. Helen leaves six nieces and nephews, Susan Dupont and her husband Richard of Spencer, Mary Schwartz and her husband Thomas of Concord, N.H., David Mamuska and his wife Brigit of Hood River, Ore., Julie Petsch and her husband Roy of Mesa, Ariz., Sara Mamuska Morris and her husband Delmer of Indianapolis, Ind., and Beth Macrina and her husband Paul of Norfolk; a stepdaughter Alice Walsh and her husband Terry of Derry, N.H.; thirteen great-nieces and great-nephews; a great-great-niece and a great-great-nephew. Helen was predeceased by her brothers, John A. and Richard J. Mamuska. Helen was born in Worcester, daughter of Anthony J. and Julia K. (Novak) Mamuska and lived most of her life in Worcester. She was a graduate of South High School and Worcester State College. Helen was an elementary school teacher for several years. She later became an expert in teaching handwriting. She worked for Rhinehart educational consultants specializing in teaching handwriting skills to students and other educators throughout Massachusetts. Helen was an avid knitter, and enjoyed traveling and shopping. She cherished her time with all of her extended family. A calling hour will be held Saturday, August 27 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. |
