Cecile M. (Marcotte) Morrell, 96, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 19, 2016. Her husband, Edgar J. Morrell, predeceased her in September 1993. Cecile is survived by her four daughters, Elizabeth (Betty) Koshinsky and her husband, Dan, of Jericho, Vermont, Terry Favulli and her husband, Ernie, of Shrewsbury, Donna Novelli and her husband, John, of Leominster, and Ann Willis and her husband, John, of North Falmouth; eight grandchildren, Sarah Koshinsky and her husband, Bill Schraffenberger, Jeffrey Koshinsky, Michelle and Christopher Favulli, Julie and Anthony Novelli, Emilie and Jordan Willis; a brother, Roland Marcotte and his wife Gloria, of Haines City, FL; a sister, Irene LaPierre of Odenton, MD; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Leonie Andrews and Yvonne Barrette. Cecile was born in Fitchburg, daughter of the late Joseph Z. and Alexina (Boudreau) Marcotte, and grew up in the Cleghorn section of Fitchburg. She married her beloved husband Edgar on June 1, 1946. Shortly after they married they moved to Worcester, where they raised their family. Cecile moved to Shrewsbury to live with her daughter Terry and son-in-law Ernie, in 2002. Cecile was a kind and loving woman who put other’s needs before her own. She will be remembered by her daughters and friends as the neighborhood “mom”. She was eager to help any child with a kind word, a warm meal, or simply a place to gather when life got hectic in their world. She will be also remembered as a school crossing guard at Greendale School, a job she loved because she was surrounded by the neighborhood children. She cherished her family and loved to spend time with them at home or at the Cape, playing cards, Scrabble or simply enjoying one another’s company. Besides being a homemaker, she also worked as a stitcher for David Clark Company, an assembler at the former Capitol Toy, and as a crochet teacher at the Worcester Girls Club. Her family would like to thank all the wonderful people that assisted in her care, so that she could remain in her home – Anna, Nancy, Sandy, Denise, and Courtney. They would also like to thank the great people at VNA Care Network & Hospice, including Chris, David, Rosemarie, and especially her hospice nurse, Nancy. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 22, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 23, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne’s Church, 120 Boston Turnpike Road (route 9 east), Shrewsbury. Interment, beside her husband, will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Saint Anne’s Human Services, 120 Boston Turnpike Road, Shrewsbury, MA 01545. |
