Edgard Nieves, 30, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015, after an accident at work. He is survived by his loving wife and friend, Monica L. (Redmond) Nieves; their children, Jovan X. Nieves and Noah E. Nieves, all at home; his mother, Zenaida (Valentin) Nieves of Worcester; his father, Edwin Nieves; three brothers, Edwin E. Nieves of San Diego, Christian J. Nieves Valentin and Jean Carlos Nieves Valentin, both of Worcester; his maternal grandmother, Elba Guerrero in Puerto Rico; four half-brothers, Edwin M. Nieves, Juan J. Nieves, Efrain Nieves, and Alfredo Nieves, all of New Haven, CT; his mother in law, Nibelka Guerrero; his father in law, Juan Portillo; his sister in law, Neliz Portillo, all of Worcester; many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Edgard was born on a United States Military Base in Wurzburg, Germany, and later moved to Puerto Rico, before moving to Massachusetts in 1994, first settling in Milford and then in Worcester. He graduated from Doherty Memorial High School in Worcester and attended Quinsigamond Community College. Edgard was an airman in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, and served his nation proudly. Edgard worked as a CNC Machinist for Inner-Tite Company in Holden. He was proud of his family and loved every moment he could be with his wife and young children. He had a passion for cars, and loved to work on engine modifications and mechanics, and had begun to start his car collection. Although he had a love for many brands of cars, he was proud to be involved in the “Subaru Community”. Calling Hours for Edgard will be held on Wednesday, December 30, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Thursday, December 31, from the funeral home with a procession departing at 9:40 a.m., for a 10 a.m. Mass at Saint Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Jovan X. and Noah E.
