Kenneth Lester Sleeper, 69, passed away at home peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 28, 2015. He was born in Clinton the son of George Lester and Abbie Jeannette (Pierce) Sleeper and had lived in Holden since 1973. He leaves his loving wife of 44 years, Susan Eliisa (Wright) Sleeper; three daughters, Dr. Rebecca Beth Sleeper and her husband, Dr. Brian Keith Irons of Lubbock, TX; Dr. Amanda Ann Sleeper and her husband, Zachary Justin Bagdon of Landenberg, PA and Dr. Megan Alissa Sleeper of Holden; a sister, Candace Moody of Waldoboro, ME; four grandchildren, Eliisa Lillie Irons, Scott Wallace Irons, Annabelle Colette Bagdon, and Pierce Justin Bagdon; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kenneth graduated from Ricker College in Houlton, ME with a BA in History, and attended the University of Southern Maine in Portland for graduate studies. He was a nursing home administrator for many years serving several companies including Quaboag on the Common and UMASS Memorial Health Alliance North County. He retired in 2008 due to his illness. Kenneth was a member of Chaffin Congregational Church where he served on several boards and committees. He was a Past Worshipful Master of the Boylston Masonic Lodge and served as chaplain for many years. He was also a member of the Aleppo Temple Shrine in Wilmington. Kenneth served on the Board of Directors at Colony Retirement Home in Worcester for over twenty years and served as president for several terms. He loved baseball and was an avid reader who always seemed to have a book in his hands. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life for Mr. Sleeper on Saturday, September 19, at 11 am at Chaffin Congregational Church, 155 Shrewsbury Street, Holden. A committal service will be held at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children , Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607. Arrangements are under the care of the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. |
