Anastasios P. “Takis” Stathoulopoulos, Holden passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at home Tuesday, April 21st 2015, he was 80 years of age. Takis, was born in Diavolitis, Greece one of six children of Panayiotis and Konstandina (Douvaras) Stathoulopoulos. He grew up in Greece, served in the Greek Army until accepting a position as assistant to the Greek Ambassador to Yugoslavia for several years before moving to Sweden. In 1960, he married Maria Nakis and began to raise his family. Takis and Maria decided in 1970 to bring their family to the United States and immigrated here to begin a new life. They settled in Worcester, opened and operated the Leicester Pizza, and Bravo on Highland Street, now Grille 57, before retiring and passing them on to their son Peter. They have lived in Holden since 1989. Takis is survived by his wife and partner of 55 years Maria; A son, Peter A. Stathoulopoulos of Worcester; a daughter Konstandina “Tina” Cavanna of Rutland; the grandchildren he adored Francesco, Giovanni and Azalia; a sister Vasiliki Stathoulopoulos in Greece; nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends both here and in Greece. Three brothers, Petros, Yianoulis and Aristomenis Stathoulopoulos, and a sister, Georgia Stathoulopoulos all pre deceased him. Takis was a member of St Spyridon’s Greek Orthodox Church. He loved being outdoors, constructing, building, tinkering and fixing anything. He found his greatest enjoyment being with his family and serving his customers. He was passionate about food, especially Greek food and had to have it made just right. Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by his funeral service at 11:00 am in St Spyridon’s Orthodox Church 102 Russell St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
