Emilia C. (Galli) Menard, 84, of Worcester, died Monday, February 23, 2015 at the UMass-Memorial Medical Center after a prolonged illness. She leaves her husband of 58 years, Albert R. Menard; a son, Michael Menard and his wife Joanne of Holden; three daughters, Diane Phaneuf and her husband Michael of Holden, Jeanne Martino and her husband Gary of Granby, CT, and Maria Pitney and her husband Patrick of Shrewsbury. She also leaves twelve grandchildren, Maxwell and Camila Menard, Rachael Phaneuf Rossi, Marissa and Alicia Phaneuf, Benjamin, Travis, Sarah and Rebecca Martino, and Victoria, Andrew and Thomas Pitney; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Emilia is predeceased by her infant daughter Mary Menard, her brother Corradino J. Galli and sister Santina Vuona. Emilia was born in Worcester, the daughter of Alfredo and Maria (Recchi) Galli. She lived in Worcester all her life and was a graduate of the former Sacred Heart Academy. Emilia was a devoted wife, mother and “Nonni” to her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events and was their biggest fan and cheerleader. One of her greatest passions was cooking for family gatherings. She was most at home in her kitchen. When she was not cooking, she could be found in the garden tending to her flowers. Faith was also very important to Emilia and she was a long time member of Immaculate Conception Parish. Calling hours are Thursday, February 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be held Friday, February 27, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. |
