ROBERT A. KILLMER

     Robert “Charlie” Killmer, 53, of Worcester died unexpectedly in his sleep January 4, 2015.

Robert is survived by his sister, Joyce Grampetro of Worcester; brothers, George “Allen” Killmer of North Brookfield, Stephan Killmer of Auburn. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, a large extended family, and several friends of whom he lived with at the Dalton Rest Home. He was predeceased by his parents, George F. Killmer and Dorothy P. (Trahar) Killmer, a sister, Dorothy (Killmer) Gallant, and a brother, Donald “Sonny” Killmer.

Robert was born in Milford, MA but grew up in Worcester. His life was complicated with a long battle with alcoholism following the death of his mother. He was physically disabled due to being struck by a car many years ago further adding to his life’s struggles. He over came all these obstacles, maintained 15 years of sobriety and finally found a place to call home and had a sense of contentment at the Dalton Rest home. Anyone who knew “Charlie “, knew him to be a gentle soul, with a heart of gold, happy go lucky and never mean spirited, a give the shirt off your back type of guy. He loved to put model cars together and never met a puzzle he didn’t like. His nickname “Charlie” was given to him by his mother, he looked like Charlie Brown as a baby and the name stuck. “Charlie’s” nickname was appropriate because he definitely had the heart of a child. May he be flying with the Angels now, he surely earned those wings.

There will be no calling hours, the family will have a graveside service at the Worcester County Memorial Park Cemetery in Paxton, MA.
