John T. Fleming, 67, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, following a courageous battle with cancer, with his loving family by his side. John was born in Worcester, the son of James and Helen (Siemienski) Fleming and graduated from St. Peter’s High School in Worcester. He leaves his wife, Carol A. (Lackey) Fleming with whom he shared 44 wonderful years; a son, Sean M. Fleming of Worcester; a daughter, Christine M. Fleming of Worcester; a brother, Edmund W. Fleming of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Kathleen S. Milano of Littleton, Colorado, and Diane J. Potter of Barre; an aunt, Jenny Siemienski of Worcester; and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, James J. Fleming and Jeffrey R. Fleming. John was a foreman with New England Telephone and later Verizon where he worked 41 years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of St. Christopher Church and the Harold N. Keith American Legion Post #204 in West Boylston. John loved gardening and growing tropical plants including Bonzai trees. One of John’s favorite pastimes was lounging in his backyard and soaking in the sun. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and friend and for his enduring strength. John’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at both the Worcester Health Center and Saint Vincent Hospital ICU for their loving care and support. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with John’s family from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, followed by a procession to St. Christopher Church, 950 West Boylston Street (Rte. 12), Worcester, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will be private at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701. |
