Yvonne M. (Fontaine) Ushinski, 87, of Auburn passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 4th with her family at her side. Yvonne was born in Lowell, one of sixteen children born to John Baptist and Eugenie (LaCroix) Fontaine, who died at age 39, giving birth to her 16th child. Yvonne and her siblings spent 6 years at St. Anne’s Orphanage, Worcester, until her father remarried Rose Dwyer, who raised them. Brothers and sisters include Romeo, Loraine, Loretta, LaFrick (Frederick), Adler (Al), Wilfred, Blanche Queenan, Eugene, Ray, Robert, Bernadette Breton, Emma Belanger, Pearl (Lucille) Santimore, Francis, and one child who died in child birth with Yvonne’s mother. She lived most of her life in Worcester. Yvonne’s husband Stanley W. Ushinski passed away in 1985. She is survived by her five devoted children, Stanley J. Ushinski of Foxboro; Patricia Ramstrom of Westboro; Jean Desrosiers and Thomas Ushinski both with whom she lived; a brother, Robert Fontaine of West Boylston; 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Daniel, Michael, Shayna, Christie, Robert, Amanda, Lee, Chelsea and Lindsey. A great grandson Kyle; many nieces and nephews. A daughter Carole A. Smith passed away in 1995. A son in law Robert Ramstrom passed away in 2006. Yvonne was a member of St. John’s Church, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the West Boylston VFW. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Her greatest joy came from being with her family and enjoying their company and compassion. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Monday, February 8th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, February 9th from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. John Church, 44 Temple St. Burial will follow next to her husband in Worcester County Memorial park in Paxton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Seven Hills Foundation, 81 Hope Ave, Worcester 01603. The Ushinski family would like to thank the Summit Elder Care and Knollwood Nursing staff for the exceptional care they gave Yvonne. The family would also like to give special thanks to her home health aides Cinthia Bonilla and Christine McNamara for their love and devotion. |
