Allen G. Chambers, 71, of 42 SW Main St., Douglas, formerly of Rindge St. Millbury, died Tuesday, July 31st in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Worcester.
He leaves his wife, Jeannette M. (Maynard) Chambers; three daughters, Ann M. wife of Gary Wood of Peterborough, NH, Linda wife of Richard Lebel of Millbury and Billie-Jo wife of Mark Desmarais Sr. of Douglas; two sisters, Phyllis Leduc of Worcester and Roberta wife of Samuel Treen of Canada; a brother, Chester Chambers and his wife Joyce of Worcester; eight grandchildren; nephew and nieces.
He was born in Worcester son of Chester M. and Olive A. (Treen) Chambers. Mr. Chambers was a truck driver for Yellow Freight Inc. in Shrewsbury for 30 years, retiring in 2000. He was a US Marine during the Korean War. He enjoyed classic cars, going to bingo with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4th in St. Brigid’s Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury is assisting the family with arrangements.
