William E. Swallow, Sr., 79, of 7 Spring St. died Friday at his home. He was born in North Andover, a son of George H. and Sarah (Morris) Swallow.
He was an automotive mechanic operating his own garage in Spencer for Many years, retiring 11 years ago.
William was a member of Gaudette-Kirk Post. American Legion. International Order of Odd Fellows Goodwill Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Brookfield and the First United Methodist Church of Spencer. He was a veteran of World War I.
He leaves his widow, Gladys (Allen) Swallow; a son, William E. Swallow, Jr., and a daughter, Miss. Janice A. Swallow, both of Worcester; two brothers, Harold Swallow of Tequesta, Fla. and George Swallow of Brunswick, Maine; four sisters, Miss Lavinia Swallow, Mrs. Bertha Gleason, and Mrs. Mildred Putnam, all of Spencer and Mrs. Ruth Eastwood of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Clark Funeral Home, 163 Main St. The Rev. Carl Mills will officiate. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
