Garden of the Cross
Even at first glance, visitors of the all-faiths Worcester County Memorial Park know that it is a very different and special place. The most noticeable difference is the lack of traditional upright headstones. Instead, the memorials are flush with the ground (with flower vases that invert when not in use) and are all of equal size which eliminates class distinction and reduces maintenance time. This translates into a more reasonably priced investment in ones peace of mind.
A 30-foot cross, crafted from fine California Redwood, completes The Garden of the Cross, the first section of the park that opened in April 1961. Over 600 yew bushes cluster around its base, forming an outline of an even greater cross; an impressive reminder of the glorious return to nature that the Park represents to so many.
