Faith Crypts
The Faith Crypts are the only section in the Worcester County Memorial Park in which the departed rest two deep (a practice popularized on the West Coast). The glade features a white and blue marble sculpture of four chaplains, all of different faith, on the U.S.S. Dorchester from World War I. During the war, the chaplains gave up their life preservers so that others could live. The crypt is adorned by Roman columns and potted flowers, and features above ground burial with the appearance of in-ground. The quote across the top of the archway is brief but powerful:
“To live in hearts that love us is not to die.”
