William L. Willand, 77, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. Born and raised in Worcester, he was the son of the late William F. and Marjorie (Premo) Willand.
After graduating from St. John’s High School, he went on to further his education at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. After working for 50-plus years for various heavy construction firms, he founded William L. Willand Consulting, Inc. In his spare time, he enjoyed long bike rides along the Cape Cod Canal, as well as playing tennis and golf. He will be remembered for his passion for trains and his contributions to the field of metaphysics. Above all else, nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family. He made a point of frequently telling his children that he loved them, was proud of them, and provided them with support and guidance.
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his three children, Rebecca Nadeau and her husband Elliott (Butch) of Rutland, Dr. Jennifer R. Willand Dillard of Piedmont, SC, and William Willand of Rochester; his former wives and mothers of his children, Bonita (Curtis) Willand of Shrewsbury and Sandra (Lee) Willand of Taunton; his two brothers, Dr. Stephen Willand and his wife, Marilyn of Worcester, and Mark Willand and his wife, Rose of Douglas; his sister, Susan Worteck and her husband, Edward of Chadds Ford, PA; and his four grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Nadeau and Abigail and William Dillard.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
