William F. “Bill” Cummings, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester, after complications from diabetes.
He was the beloved husband of Dianne (O’Coin) for 51 years, father of Michelle Vidal and her husband Matthew and Laura Ybarra and her husband Billy. Bill was a loving and proud grandpa of Nathaniel Vidal and Max and Molly Ybarra. He also leaves behind his siblings, Anne, Paul (wife Kathleen), Thomas (wife Nancy), Carola (wife Dianne), and many loved nieces and nephews. His parents and sister Joan predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester, MA and thoroughly enjoyed his many sunny days at Misquamicut, RI. Bill graduated from Blessed Sacrament, St. Peter’s and UMASS and received a Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling from Assumption. He put both degrees to good use and spent most of his career trying to make a difference with foster children through the Department of Social Services.
Some of his happiest times were the memories from his St. Peter’s football days, coaching at Jesse Burkett Little League, playing golf with his brothers and extensive traveling with his family.
His two girls, Nathaniel, Max and Molly and his good buddy Mark had a special place in his heart. Special thanks to the numerous health care providers who helped make the last 3 years of Bill’s life as comfortable as possible.
Family and friends are invited to remember Bill’s amazing life by gathering for a time of visitation at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, on April 3rd from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester on April 4th at 10:00 am, with burial following at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his memory to the American Diabetes Association online at www.diabetes.org.
