Subscription Update Obituary

William D. “Lefty” Boudreau, 78, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 20, at Saint Vincent Hospital surrounded by his family after a short illness.

William is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Ann (Ward) Boudreau; a son, W. David Boudreau of Granby, CT; three daughters, Theresa A. Pickett of Worcester, Patricia A. Boudreau of Fort Worth, TX and Barbara A. Cummons of Glen Arm, MD; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Joseph R. Boudreau of Dayville, CT; four sisters, Marie A. Doust and June A. Allard of Charlton; Ellen M. Brown of North Carolina and Jean A. Hebert of West Brookfield; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Helen Michelle in 1993, 3 brothers, Edmond J. Boudreau of Hicksville, NY in 1974, John T. Boudreau of Florida in 1985 and James J. Boudreau of Worcester in 2006 and a sister, Elizabeth E. McKinstry of Charlton died in 2003.

He was born in Warwick, RI, the son of William and Agnes (Speed) Boudreau and served in the United States Navy Reserves from 1950 to 1959. Known by everyone as “Lefty” he worked for over 50 years in the vending business as a mechanic. He began his lengthy career in 1946 with Automatic Dispensers of Worcester where he worked for 28 years ending in the maintenance department at their Southbridge facility. He then formerly retired from All Seasons Services based in Braintree in 1997.

Lefty was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council #88; a life member of the Bishop O’Reilly Assembly 4th Degree; a life member of the National Rifle Association; and a life member of the Handyman Club of America. He was a caring and funny man who especially enjoyed spending time with his family and loved tinkering and fixing things.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 24th, from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St., with a mass at 10 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 23rd, from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
