Walter M. Reardon, 90, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Veterans' Adminstration Hospital in West Roxbury. He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Lucille A. (Guillet) Reardon; 2 daughters, Mary T. wife of Arthur R. Todd of Florida, and Sandra A. wife of Peter J. DiPetro of Ridgefield, CT; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie T. DiPetro and Amanda Andrade; 3 great grandchildren, Gabriella, Sydney and Landon Andrade; a brother, Robert Reardon of TN, and a sister, Dorothy Weatherbee of Thompson, CT. He was born in Dudley a son of Edward and Blanche (Payant) Reardon and has resided in Charlton for many years. Walter served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy in both the European and Pacific Theaters and was awarded a Purple Heart and Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with 7 stars. He worked at the former American Optical Co. in Southbridge for 33 years and retired at the age of 55. He was also a member of the Quarter Century Club at A.O., the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. Walter enjoyed painting, mostly still life's, taking a walk and gardening. Walter's Funeral will be Monday, March 23, 2015 with a Mass at 10 AM at St. Joseph's Church, 10 H-Putnam Rd., Ext., Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling Hours will be Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 5PM to 7 PM at the ROBERT J. MILLER-CHARLTON FUNERAL HOME, 175 Old Worcester Rd. Memorial Contributions may be made to: the American Legion, 700 N.
