Virginia J. (Sullivan) Richard, 77, of Worcester, died Saturday, September 19th in her home.

     She leaves her husband of 56 years, Edward J. Richard; a son, Robert J. Richard and his wife Lee of Shrewsbury; two daughters, Jeanne V. Smith and her husband Brian of Worcester and Paula Ann Sawicki and her husband Michael of Goffstown, NH; five grandchildren, Mandy, Stephanie, Michael, Kerry Lee and Patrick; a great granddaughter, Dejana; and several nephews and nieces. Her brother, Daniel W. Sullivan and her sister, Mary E. Sullivan, predeceased her.

     Mrs. Richard was born in Worcester, the daughter of Andrew A. and Mary K. (Mara) Sullivan. She attended South High School. Mrs. Richard was a sales representative for Filene’s for 23 years until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. Mrs. Richard was an avid puzzle maker, and especially enjoyed the puzzles with Thomas Kinkade paintings on them. She enjoyed crafts fairs and soap operas, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

     The funeral is Tuesday, September 22nd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Monday, September 21st from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
