Victor George, 79, of Holden, formerly of Worcester, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022 at home after a brief illness.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Elaine (Lawyer) George; his children, Jennifer Cote and her husband Michael of Terryville, Conn., Michael George and his wife Kerri of Rutland, Julie Reno and her husband Michael of Holden, and Matthew George and his wife Lindsay of Dudley; eleven grandchildren; two sisters, Florence Rucho of West Boylston and Jeannette Harvey of Upland, Calif.; nieces, nephews and friends.

He is predeceased by his brothers, Steven and Theodore George.

Victor was born in Worcester to Vangel and Sophie (Bushe) George and lived there much of his life. He served honorably in the United States Army for eight years. He was a member of the Worcester Fire Department and was also the groundskeeper and facilities manager for Ascension Church for nearly thirty years. He was a devout Catholic.

When he wasn’t working hard at one of his jobs or to improve the home, Vic enjoyed trips with Elaine to Maine and Vermont. His generosity was felt by strangers for whom he would sometimes buy groceries, or on the many Thansksgivings he helped serve the Bishop’s Dinner. He had unconditional love for his entire family. The most fulfilling part of his life was spending time with his grandchildren who brought him immense joy.

The family would like express heartfelt thanks to Laura’s Guardian Angels and Beacon Hospice for the grace and dignity they gave Victor in their loving care during his final days.

Funeral services will be private. The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.

Donations in Vic’s memory may be made to Laura’s Guardian Angels, PO Box 20182, Worcester, MA 01602.
