Subscription Update Obituary

Valentina Olivencia Crespo was called back home to God on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at home surrounded by her family, she was 83. Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to her parents Baldomero Olivencia and Rosalia Crespo.  Relocating to Manhattan, New York as a child with her parents and siblings.  She then moved to Worcester, MA in the early 1960’s. It was here where she worked and volunteered in the community. She began working at H.H. Brown Shoe Company then opened a restaurant and bodega on Main St., serving the Spanish community. Volunteering at The Piedmont Neighborhood Center, A.L.P.A Spanish Community Center, Friendly House, and St. Paul’s Father Power Community Center.  Afterwards she worked as a crossing guard, school bus driver, nursing aide at Worcester City Hospital, and ultimately retiring as a counselor from Community Healthlink.

Valentina will always be remembered for her compassion, emotional & spiritual guidance resulting in many calling her friend and even Mami.  She was known to open her heart and home to many that needed shelter, protection, a gentle smile and a warm hug.  For when they left, they felt a mother’s unconditional love.

She loved animals, motorcycles, Semi trucks and driving her Mustang!  She liked cooking, gardening, crocheting, playing music, games and games like Mancala, Dominoes and solitaire.  Always starting and ending her day reading her Bible.

Valentina was the matriarch of her family.  With them she enjoyed Sunday dinners, sharing her childhood memories, stories, laughing, and conversations over a nice cup of coffee.

She is survived by her siblings Pedro Perez, Juan Olivencia and Jose E. Olivencia.  Daughter Damaris and son-in-law Anibal Antuna of Ware, Ma. Son Miguel Ramos of Staten Island, NY.   Daughter Luz and son-in-law Joel Grajales of Spencer, Ma and Daughter-in-law Eileen Ramos of Leicester, Ma.  Sons Wilson U. Montalvo, Edeit H. Montalvo, Edwin Montalvo, Wilson L. Montalvo, Francisco Montalvo all of Worcester.  Also 36 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and God children.

Her son Jose Ramos of Leicester, Ma, her brothers Francisco and Guillermo Olivencia, nephew Jason Olivencia and both parents preceded her in death.

Calling Hours will be held on Monday June 10th, 2024, from 9am-11am at Graham Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors 838 Main St Worcester, Ma 01610. Funeral service will be at 11am followed by burial at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, Ma.
