Thomas C. Mack passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Born in Worcester in 1949, Tom was a Worcester guy through and through. He graduated from St. Mary’s at the top of his class where he was an all-city baseball and basketball standout. He continued his education with a full basketball scholarship to Assumption College where he graduated in 1971. He went on to work at Consumer Savings Bank. After marrying his wife, Deborah he went on to work in family-run manufacturing businesses eventually becoming the President of Worcester Taper Pin and Wright Machine. He was the chairman of the Central Mass Employers Association and very active in the Worcester Junior Executives, and a member of Worcester Country Club and Mt. Pleasant Country Club where he loved to play golf.

Tom is survived by his wife of 52 years Deborah (Cervini) Mack of Holden, his daughter, Alycia Mack, sons Thomas A. and David Mack, two granddaughters and two grandsons all of Worcester and his sister, Stephanie Witherell of Grafton. Tom was quietly philanthropic his entire life, serving as the co-chair of the greater Worcester Jimmy Fund Golf Tournament from its inception in 1986. Following the passing of his co-chair, Mark Ungerer, he organized a tournament in his memory at the International Golf Club in Bolton, MA. He dedicated over 20 years to raising money for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Tom never missed a field hockey, baseball or basketball game of his kids’, home or away and was a strong supporter of athletics at Bancroft School where his children graduated. He volunteered his time as a youth sports coach in Holden Rec, Sacred Heart/St. Joe’s and helped organize the Worcester Youth Flag Football League. Tom’s infectious personality and deep love of the game made him popular with other parents and student athletes alike. His lighthearted jabs at referees endeared him to players and coaches and he could always be heard from the stands at Babson with his trademark cheer, “It’s a great day to be a Beaver!”

To know Tom was to love him. Nothing made him happier than to connect with people or help create opportunities for those he loved, you could always count on him. Above all, Tom was a family man, being with his wife and kids and eventually, grandkids are what brought him the most joy. He will be dearly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Tom’s family from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 21st, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 23rd, at Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Assumption University, 500 Salisbury St., Worcester, followed by burial at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
