Subscription Update Obituary

   Thomas A. Gill, Sr., 81, formerly of West Mountain St., in Worcester, passed away Sat., March 8, 2008 in The Jewish Healthcare Center.

   He leaves his wife of nearly sixty-two years, Carmela (Piccinino) Gill; three sons, Thomas A. Gill, Jr. and his wife Deborah A. Gill of Worcester, Ronald A. Gill and his wife Rosemary Gill of Cranston, RI, and Timothy W. Gill of Worcester; a daughter, Kathy Pedone and her husband Leo Pedone of Worcester; two brothers, Alfred D. Gill and his wife Pearl of Worcester, and David Gill in California; two sisters, Gaile E. Arcouette of Holden, and Constance Boone and her husband Paul in California; three grandsons, Jonathan Gill, Brian Pedone, and Jacob Rinaldi; a great granddaughter, Gracie Alan Gill; a grand daughter-in-law, Ambur Gill, wife of his late grandson, Ronald A. Gill, Jr. U.S. Coast Guard, who was killed March 25, 2007, while performing a mission for homeland security. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Thomas was born in Worcester, the son of Edna G. (Nideur) Gill-Arcouette and was raised by his step-father, Delcer J. Arcouette, and has lived here all his life. He served in the United States Navy, during World War II, aboard the U.S.S. Panamint in Okinawa, Japan.

   Mr. Gill was a supervisor in manufacturing for many years, before he retired. He was a member of Saint Christopher Church, The Vernon Hill American Legion Post 435, the V.F.W. Southworks Post, and the "Lincoln Group" at Greenhill Golf Club. He was an avid Red Sox fan, and was happy to have seen them win the World Series during his lifetime.

   The funeral for Thomas will be held Wednesday, March 12, from MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Christopher Church, 950 West Boylston Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 11, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
