Susan L. (Muzzrall) Lacaire,74 of Spencer, died Saturday, Aug. 13 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, after a brief battle with cancer.

She leaves her husband of 53 years, Donald B. Lacaire, her son; Corey H. Lacaire and his wife Shelly of Spencer and her daughter; Justine L. Barnes and her husband Ronald Barnes, Jr. of E.Brookfield, her grandchildren; Casey, Nolan, Alexis, Kane, Colton and Addison, her sister; Lissa J. Mooradd and her husband Peter of So.Hadley and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son; Lucas M. Lacaire in 2012.

Born in Ware, she was the daughter of Louis J. “Pete” and Loretta V. (Laroche) Muzzrall and later graduated from David Prouty High School in 1966.

Sue worked in the Water department and then was the Town Treasurer/Collector in Spencer for 9 years, retiring in 2018. She previously was the bookkeeper for Lacaire Lumber for many years.

She was a member and former lector at Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish in Spencer. She was a member of the Gaudette-Kirk Post 138 American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, and former Spencer Fire Dept. Women’s Auxiliary. Sue was a member of the “Sewing Ladies” sewing club.

Sue loved to cook and enjoyed weekly family dinner night. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling and going to the casino.

Sue’s funeral will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18th. from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish, 46 Maple St., Spencer, MA 01562.
