Stephen K. “Steve” Fant, 72, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 9, 2022.

He leaves his loving siblings: Pamela E. Tomaso and her husband Charles, of Milford, Debra K. Williams her husband Brian, of Warren, and Bruce E. Fant and his wife Kelly, of Auburn; his nieces and nephews: Christopher Tomaso and his wife Jennifer, Mark Tomaso and his wife Valerie, Chelsea Bjorklund and her husband Ken, Michael Fant, Jessica, Joshua, Ryan, and Kyle Tomaso; his great-nephew, Kasey Bjorklund; and his companion of many years, Jane Blinkhorn, of Uxbridge.

Steve was born in Worcester, raised and educated in Auburn – son of the late Carl E. and Charlotte (Sandner) Fant. He graduated from Auburn High School, and went on to volunteer for the Auburn Fire Department from the 1960’s til the 1980’s. Most recently, Steve retired from the Hopkinton DPW, where he was superintendent and oversaw the sewer system installation.

Steve was a man of few words, but had many hobbies and interests. He was an avid outdoorsman, and could often be found hunting and fishing (especially, catching tuna, ground fishing, and lobstering on his many boats over the years – the Yankee Doodle, the Lady Jane, and the Quest II, out of Marshfield). Steve loved spending summers at Blackman’s Point in Brant Rock, and playing KENO while having a beer. He will be remembered for his kind, quiet nature and generous spirit.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, Attn: Processing Center, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Fant family between 4 – 7 PM on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn, MA. Burial will be held at a later date.
