It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Stanley R. Filipkowski, 78, beloved husband, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who peacefully passed away on November 8, 2024. He was born in Worcester, MA on February 19, 1946.
Stan was the son of the late Veto Filipkowski and Annastasia (Grabowski) and predeceased by his loving wife Donna (Labossiere) Filipkowski, his sisters Estelle Fiore, Shirley Karol, Marie Riley, his brother Donald Fiore, and his grandson Daniel Coonan. He is survived by his brother Veto Filipkowski, his sons Robert Filipkowski and wife Betty, and Michael Filipkowski and wife Leah, his granddaughters Mira and Hailey, his grandsons Dylan and Glenn Coonan and wife Andrea, and his great grandson Curtis.
Stan was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, Specialist 4 of the Army Infantry awarded the Purple Heart Medal and honored as Veteran of the Year in 2011. He worked as a Teamster and at the Worcester Post Office. He was an active member and former President of the Vietnam Veterans For the Community (VVFTC) where he spent many hours supporting veteran initiatives for the Green Hill Park memorials, Toys for Tots, St Johns Food Pantry in Worcester and the Central Massachusetts Veterans Support Inc. Food Pantry in Millbury.
Services will be held at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester, MA on Thursday, November 14 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. with a celebration of life event following at 3:30 p.m. at J’Anthony’s, 206 Southbridge Road, North Oxford, MA 01537. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Second Chance Animal Shelter in East Brookfield, MA and Wounded Warrior Project.
A private family burial service will take place at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, MA.
