Subscription Update Obituary

     Sophie C. (Kabasinski) West, 98, entered into eternal rest with her family by her side at Notre Dame Long term care center on Sunday October 26th 2014.

Sophie was the daughter of the late Adam and Caroline (Gladuschevska) Kabasinski. She leaves her five devoted children, Ronald West and his wife Patricia of Westwood, Patricia Cumming and her husband Nicholas of Hollywood Florida, Mary Jane Weldon and her husband Donald of East Brookfield, Linda Yeulenski of Hubbardston, Pamela Lauria and her husband Scott of Worcester; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Her husband Roland S. West passed away in 2002. Four sisters, two brothers, and her son in law, Tony Yeulenski all pre deceased her.

A devoted mother, Sophie found her life’s inspiration in her family. She loved being with and having them all around her. She was very involved in family activities and watching her grandchildren grow. Sophie especially spent a lot of enjoyment time with her grandson’s dog “Dakota”

Friends and relatives are invited to a period of calling hours Tuesday, October 28th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. before traveling in procession to St John Church, 40 Temple Street where her Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 am. Burial will follow privately next to her husband in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in her name can be made to the Notre Dame Long-term Care center or the Notre Dame Hospice Care, 555 Plantation St Worcester.
