Subscription Update Obituary

     Shirley M. (Burbo) Plaud, 72, of Leicester and a longtime Worcester resident died on Wednesday, July 13th in St. Vincent Hospital.

Shirley was married for 46 years to the late Ernest E. Plaud Sr., who died in 2007. She is survived by a son, Christopher J. Plaud of Worcester; two daughters, Karen M. Jasper of Leicester and Pamela A. Brayton of Webster; 2 brothers, Allen Reeves of Krum, TX and Richard Burbo of Worcester; 8 sisters, Nancy Burke, Marie Ames, Claire Baez, Sheila Colby, Agnes Burbo all of Worcester, Sandra Carey of Spencer, Linda St. Germain and Judith Richer both of Worcester; 6 grandchildren, Kevin, Mollie, Brittany, Haley, Alexander and Rachael and many nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Plaud was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Elmer and Agnes (Burritt) Burbo and is also predeceased by a son, Ernest E. Plaud Jr., who died in 2005.

Shirley last worked for the Eddington Thread Company and previously worked for Robinson Thread and the Standard Paper Goods Company. After she retired, Shirley took great joy in being a day care provider for her grandchildren.

She had a fun loving personality and enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods, playing bingo, bowling, watching Days of Our Lives on a daily basis, and listening to music – especially Kenny Rogers and Elvis Presley.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, July 20th for a funeral mass at 10am in St. Peter’s Church 931 Main St. with burial to follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Memorial contributions in memory of Shirley may be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen Street Framingham, MA 01701.
